Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can dispose of them at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a battery distributor, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address listed in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located below the wheeled bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

Compact camera with three distance zones
The Olympus XA2 combines a fixed D.Zuiko 35 mm f/3.5 lens with an easy-to-use distance setting. You choose one of three zones depending on the distance to your subject. This is not autofocus: especially with a close-up subject, you should consciously decide which zone is suitable for the shot.
Let the camera handle the exposure automatically
Shutter speed and aperture are controlled by an exposure program. This allows you to focus on composition and distance. However, the simple operation does not change the fact that low light may require longer exposures. Keeping the camera steady and choosing a film suitable for the situation remain part of your planning.
35mm film in a slide-out design
The XA2 uses 35mm film and exposes 24 × 36 mm frames. The front cover protects the lens and provides access to the camera controls. You advance the film manually. This is ideal for a compact snapshot approach, where you consciously prepare the next frame after each shot.
Do not equate the XA and XA2
The original XA has a different focusing and exposure system. Its rangefinder or aperture preselection is not carried over to the XA2. The dedicated side-mounted flash units are also separate system components. For indoor shots, you should therefore consider the camera and suitable lighting as separate decisions.
Zone focusing as a quick preliminary decision
The three zones can enable a quick shooting workflow if you consider the typical distance of your scene before taking the shot. For a street scene with similar distances, the preset can work well with the rhythm of the subjects. However, with frequently changing close-up subjects, it requires conscious readjustment. The XA2 is therefore particularly suitable if you want to combine automatic exposure with an active, personal decision about distance.
