What we check

  • Recording: starts and stops reliably, the file is saved correctly
  • Playback: recordings can be selected and played back
  • Display and menu: display works, the menu can be opened and operated
  • Buttons, directional pad and scroll wheel: respond cleanly
  • Zoom: runs smoothly, without jerking or blocking
  • Front lens: for scratches, fogging and fungus

What we don’t check

  • Battery life
  • Audio recording and microphone quality
  • Compatibility with certain media or cables
