The taking lens is labeled Haiou SA-84 1:3.5/75. The 4A-103 is used for framing through the top viewfinder; the second lens takes the image on film.

Framing through the viewfinder

Twin-lens reflex camera with Haiou SA-84 75mm f/3.5. When framing from above, you can comfortably hold the camera in front of your body. The viewfinder and taking paths are spatially separated; therefore, with a short subject distance, the difference between the viewfinder frame and the actual image must be taken into account. To focus, you deliberately judge the viewfinder image against a clearly visible subject edge. After changing the distance, you check the image frame again, especially with close-up subjects.

Square roll film

It is suitable for roll film in the square 6×6 system. The square format allows you to arrange lines, surfaces, and distances without having to choose between portrait and landscape orientation. The film sensitivity is determined by the material. After exposure, development follows, and depending on the goal, a print, an enlargement, or a scan.

Manual exposure and preparation

Mechanical camera operation. When choosing the aperture and shutter speed, subject movement and steady camera handling go together. For reproducible shots, an external light meter is advisable if you do not use a reliably suitable camera meter. You can find the exact sequence of film advance and shutter cocking in the model manual.

Understanding focal length in medium format

The focal length is to be considered together with the film format. A lens with a millimeter value familiar in 35mm photography produces a different angle of view on the larger negative. Therefore, you choose your position based on the viewfinder image for the desired frame. Working directly with distance, aperture, and shutter speed makes photographic decisions easy to understand.

Product details

Brand: Seagull

Model: 4A-103

Product type: TLR

Format: Roll film

Color: Black

Scope of delivery and image note

The product mentioned in the title is delivered.

Additional accessories are only included if they are expressly mentioned as part of the offer in the title.

The photos show a typical model.
